Trauma Recovery & Healing Support

Moving from surviving to thriving after trauma

Hi, Welcome, I’m Andrea. I’m a survivor, an author, and the founder of What Life Throws At You and the Survivor Stories Project.

I created this platform for anyone finding their way after trauma, abuse, grief, chronic stress, identity loss, or big life changes.

Drawing from my own experience and trauma-informed knowledge, I offer honest reflections, practical support, guided journals, and healing resources to help you rebuild your self-worth, emotional balance, and resilience.

Your past does not define you.

You are not what happened to you. You are who you choose to become.

Why This Exists

I survived ten years of intrafamilial abuse and grew up in a home marked by alcoholism and instability. I carried silence, shame, guilt, and self-doubt.

Life kept testing my resilience as an adult. I survived an attempted attack with a knife, supported my child through anorexia, faced the heartbreak of stillbirth, and dealt with cancer and surgical menopause.

Each experience shaped me, but it didn’t define me.

I created this space to prove that healing is possible, that silence can be broken, and that strength can be rebuilt.

You are what you learn, until you learn not to be

My memoir, Sacrificial Girl, shares that story in full, not as victimhood, but as resilience and reconnection.

The Survivor Stories Project

Open book blurred nature background text to explain the Survivor Stories Project

This book project gathers real stories from people with similar experiences, giving hope, encouragement, and understanding to others on the same journey.

There will be a series of books, each dedicated to a specific topic, offering readers encouragement, hope, strength, support, and advice from lived experience.

Each book supports a relevant charity, with all Amazon royalties donated directly to causes connected to the book’s theme.

This project invites you to write a chapter for a professionally published book about a specific life experience.

By joining, you can inspire hope in others and support a related charity.
